Country Kitchen

The heart of any country home is its kitchen. And at the heart of each country kitchen are the mouth-watering creations that bring everyone running.

A newbie to Trim Healthy Mama, I create recipes which combine good old-fashioned taste with a healthy alternative that everyone will enjoy. I may be health conscious, but the only thing my family needs to know is that this tastes great!

"Come and get it!"

DOWN-HOME CHILI

2-3 pounds ground beef (80% lean preferred)
1 c. celery, diced
1/2 c. diced green pepper
1 large onion, diced

1 1/2 c. water
2 28-oz. cans diced tomatoes
1 16-oz can kidney beans (drained)
1 15-oz can garbanzo beans/chick peas (drained)

5 T. chili powder (or to taste)
1/2 tsp. salt (or mineral salt for THM)
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 T. brown sugar (or Truvia Brown Sugar Blend-optional for THM)

Brown ground beef; drain well. Add celery, green pepper, and onion; simmer until tender. Stir in water, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and garbanzo beans/chick peas. Stir in chili powder, salt/mineral salt, pepper, and brown sugar/Truvia Brown Sugar Blend.

Bring to boil; immediately reduce heat to simmer for at least 15 minutes prior to serving. (The longer the chili simmers, the more the flavor melds together into a flavorful pot of chili.)

THM - E Meal
You won't be disappointed!
